Aerial Infrared Photography From GravityShots.Com

I lent my infrared camera to my good friends Jeff and Adele Scholl earlier this week. Jeff and Adele run www.Gravityshots.com. Gravityshots.com specializes in low-angle aerial photography using remote controlled helicopters. With their amazing helicopters Jeff and Adele are able to get shots from 50 to 500 feet up. Here's a sampling of what they did with the infrared camera!

Wow! I just love how the water turns inky black and all of the vegetation glows in these photos.

If you are curious, these images were shot with a converted Canon 20D. I sent the camera off to LifePixel.com and had them convert it into an infrared only camera using their "Deep Black and White IR" process. LifePixel offers other choices for the conversion process including the option to convert a traditional digital SLR camera into one that shoots in color infrared. Hmmm... Maybe I'll try that with my next "old used" camera.

I think that I'll post a tutorial next week explaining what I do to these infrared images in the camera and with Adobe Photoshop Lightroom. Stay tuned.
